Amelia Island Beaches - Best Places to Swim

Whether you're just visiting the island or you're looking for an Amelia Island home for sale, finding great places to swim is probably a priority. Being surrounded by water, there's no shortage of pristine beaches and sandy places to play.  We’ve collected the three best places on Amelia Island to swim.

Main Beach Park, Fernandina Beach

Main Beach Park is located at 32 North Fletcher Avenue in Fernandina Beach and is a favorite among locals for its shallow seashore, quiet atmosphere, and abundant free parking. The beach gets its charm from old homes dotting the shore and undeveloped natural areas. There are no stores or places to shop along this beach, and few places to grab a bite to eat. Regulars recommend packing a picnic and enjoying the peaceful quality of this beach.

If you're looking for refreshments, Sandy Bottoms offers casual food and drinks. Or, Fernandina's Putt-Putt is located along the beach and offers ice cream, shakes, and soft drinks along with mini golf.

There are many ways to keep busy at the beach if you get tired of strolling along the surf and collecting seashells and shark's teeth. The park features a playground for children, three pavilions, six picnic shelters with tables, sand volleyball court, and a basketball court. There are also clean bathrooms and outdoor showers.

 Peter's Point Park, Amelia Island

Peter's Point Park is located at 1974 S. Fletcher Avenue on Amelia Island and is one of the larger beachfront parks on the island. With so much room to run and play, this is the perfect spot for a day with the entire family.

Fishing is allowed at this beach, so bring your poles and your tackle. There are also picnic tables, indoor and outdoor showers, and tons of free parking. Peter's Point Park is also the starting point for the paved, 6.2 mile Amelia Island Trail, a hiking, biking, and jogging path that was opened in 2013. The trail is family friendly and ten feet wide so there's plenty of room for everyone.

Seaside Park, Fernandina Beach

Seaside Park is located at 2020 South Fletcher Avenue in Fernandina Beach and is a great place to bring your dog for a swim. Cars are welcome on the beach so drive right up to your spot and unload your gear.

The park features free parking, picnic tables, a wooden boardwalk, outdoor showers, and public restrooms. It is also close to one of Amelia Island's best seafood spots, the Sliders Seaside Grill. Slider's was completely renovated in 2003 and guests can enjoy spacious dining rooms, lounge, and oceanfront patio while taking a break from the fun and sun.
